Indoor air quality continues to be a priority and has led to the
adoption of ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 62-89 which increased outside air
quantity requirements as much as 400%. Increasing outside airflow
puts larger loads on HVAC systems giving building owners higher operating
costs. DRS Marlo Coil's air handling units with heat wheels provide
total energy recovery on the outside air before any mechanical heating
or cooling is performed and provide up to 88% total (sensible + latent)
energy recovery.
In the summer, the wheel pre-cools and dehumidifies and in the winter,
it pre-heats and humidifies with no cross contamination of the outside
and exhaust airstreams. While other types of energy recovery offer
efficiencies on the sensible energy only, the heatwheel is the only
device available that can offer Total Energy Recovery
